Record Store Day 2016
Wednesday, November 18th, 2015Statement from Sugar Shack Records.
As the parent company in the group that incorporates Reggae Archive Records and Bristol Archive Records we will not be participating in Record Store Day 2016. We have made a decision that the corporate intensity demonstrated by the major labels to essentially high jack which was once a good idea, has destroyed our enthusiasm. As such we won’t expose ourselves to the risk of letting our fans down by not being able to guarantee that a record will be manufactured in time for the event. We will do our best to continue to release amazing records in 2016 (some will be scheduled very soon) but nothing will appear as part of Record Store Day 2016.

Record Store Day 2012 – April 21st
Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012Record Store Day came into being in 2007 when over 700 independent stores in the USA came together to celebrate their unique culture. The UK followed suit and 2012 will see the fourth celebration of the UK’s unique independent sector. This is the one day that all of the independently owned record stores come together with artists to celebrate the art of music. Special vinyl and CD releases and various promotional products are made exclusively for the day and hundreds of artists across the globe make special appearances and performances. Festivities include performances, meet & greets with artists, DJ’s, in store quizzes and many other events.
Bristol Archive/Sugar Shack Records participates with two Limited Edition Vinyl releases:
The Bristol Reggae Explosion 1978-1983 (GREEN VINYL) – 500 pressing
AMJ Dub Collective – Sound History Vol 1 – 500 pressing
