Sea Culture 1986-1993

James Wallace: Acoustic & electric guitar/ digital effects
Jake Peggs: drums & percussion/ drum programming & vocals
Terri Brahma: vocals

All songs by James Wallace & Jake Peggs

Following the demise of the Builders the members all stayed friends and worked with each other on other musical projects.

James & Jake formed Sea Culture as a recording venture in the mid eighties. They wanted to write songs that reflected their love of more ambient and spiritual music.

Inspired by some new digital equipment (drum machines, sequencers and digital effects) they wrote many dreamlike songs and instrumental pieces that caught the zeitgeist of the times. Jake used a mixture of acoustic and digital percussion and wrote the melodies whilst James wrote the lyrics and music. Terri Brahma (Sweet Soul Sisters) recorded many of the vocals as her low register was thought to be perfect for the songs.

A set of songs by Sea Culture won the Venue new music competition in 1987 (?) much to the surprise of the band. Sea Culture never performed live.

After cooking for the Cancer Help Centre in Clifton and on the Greek Island of Skiros, James Wallace moved to Scotland to work and cook at the Findhorn Foundation. He continued to make music until his death from cancer in 2017.

Jake Peggs lives in Bristol, works as a Glass Artist and continues to make music.
